Chaos 2 - Eclipse 1

Somehow the win was not recorded correctly until recently, but we know better. Being the soccer babies (that we all are), Kirsten and Dianne were not going to let their goals go unnoticed. Also we were playing with the quick decision of "Colleen you are in net until Janet gets here!" to help us get a bit panicky at the start. Luckily Janet arrived and quickly had to leave afterwards. We all appreciated her effort to leave work and play for us. With most of us in full pink bandannas helping Jen feel like she was not the only one worried about a wig mishap, we played hard and well.

Perhaps next time, we can wear the same underwear in solidarity for our team members! Do you like the dark color or the light, more patriotic Italian look??

I myself like the unclothed look of Mr. Fabio Cannavaro, an Italian soccer player.

But I digress. We were discussing the last 3 wins by our team. Perhaps all our running is paying off in our playing. We agreed to meet on Christmas eve for a run and a coffee. More running over the break is scheduled to keep us in shape. Keep up the great work ladies!

Lila Lofts With Her Left - Breezers Left Behind

A nice first goal sent the Breezers in a tailspin as Chaos took an early lead. With 2 goals and our goalie on fire, we took them by surprise. We played hard and they had to bring back a defender to defend against us. The score ended tied (2-2) but we outplayed them. All that really matters is that Lila scored with her left foot, even though we had no balls to warm up with and talked tirelessly through our warmup.

First Time Defeat for Parktown, First Time Lucky Goalie Shirt Works!

Yes, the 3 to 1 victory over Parktown made up for the pushing by the players, penalties by the ref, and the pleasantries exchanged with the ref by the coach (you were very tactful Wade).
We still out shot the goalie, Parktown Patty (too high for her to reach), outran and outsmarted the players, and generally were outstanding! They did even laugh at Janet's outlandish goalie shirt, bikini in full view. All we know is that they were out to get us and we were out to win!

Run For Your Life! - in Martensville

Here are the reigning champions of the race with their raving reviews of the run.
Team Chaos took gold, silver and bronze in the 28-29 age group.  Michelle fell at the feet of a good looking fireman (they were not shirtless as promised) and still finished in the medals. Lori and Anna were also on the podium. Dianne was a close fourth.  Lila finished in good form....was not last.  Barb and her tampon made it home together safely, lots of fun for all ....especially the 100 kilometre an hour head wind.
Later chicks. B

Celebration Get-Together will be this coming Saturday at 8:15 am at the fancy Broadway Roastery establishment - please bring your medals and injuries for show & tell! Please be prepared for photos, photos, photos !!
...Anna
Thanks Barb for the play by play of the day,  I just got back for a 45 minute bike ride with my hubby.  I am off to the tub with a cool one . Have a good week see most of you Saturday for our celebration.
Dianne
Hey 10K participants,
Are any of you sore today? or are you ready to go at it (run) again?
My hamstrings are a bit sore, that's all.
...Anna
Hey all runners and Chaos wannabe runners in the Martensville 10K,
Even I made it and I only got a wee tiny blister on the side of my foot. (Luckily I kick with my right foot.)
Warning: Do not scroll down if you do want to see foot picture!

I let the other girls get the medals this year so they will return again. We all agreed and slowed way down, so Lori could win. I even ran a detour up and down a mountain so she could pass me.

Meanwhile my son was playing football in the homecoming game in town and got the only 2 touchdowns of the game. I missed his 80 yard run in front of the home crowd. We thought the cheering fans were cheering for the 10K runners. So I let him have all the glory and I got the blister.
...Lila
I have sympathy for anyone suffering from arthritis because my hands hurt like a #%^&$!! today.  Good thing I don't need them for running though...

Chaos Beats Up as Majestics Heat Up!

Actually we beat them to the ball, let them score a goal for us and then cooled off with our own fan. The 4 - 0 score indicated who was ready to play in that sauna. Colleen scored our first goal even though her cat peed all over her uniform before the game! Paula came in late enough to join us on field without having to play goal. She scored the other 2 goals although Dianne and Linda had many nice chances. Linda's ankle gave her a wobble or 2 but she wouldn't give up. We just about phoned Deb with an emergency call so she would leave the fire hall and come play with us. Luckily we had "Parktown Patty" to pick up the defensive line and Jan Smith to cover the left side of the pitch. We are wondering if either of them can dance on a table so they can join us in a tournament. Las Vegas is calling our name! Dianne's duty is to find out more info on what that town can offer us. Do we play outdoors?? Do they carry size 11 shoes on sale?? What shows are on ??? How much do pitchers and nachos cost?? Can you wear boots with a bathing suit to the pool in the hotel?? Start saving your pennies girls. Maybe we can make a calendar for our fundraiser.
Where are we going next tournament? Stay tuned!

Chaos Heats Up While Parktown Picks Up!

AAH!! Everything hurts!! What a game! Inside a sauna, sweating & swearing while trying to stop #14!! Yes we did lose the game but at least we scored 2 and 5 for them. The beer was extra delicious even though we had to get it ourselves! See you guys in a week, enjoy the sauna...again!

Just Like Germany!!!

Why why why did we play like Germany last night? Was the thrill of short manicured grass and the allure of lights too much for us? Was it seeing the return of Linda, Paula, Jane B, Jane E, Sarah, and Dianne at the game that threw us off? Was it the thought of drinking on the field (which is not allowed) throwing our concentration? (Lila thinks it was her son's new girlfriend that kept her mind off the Pitch which was why she played so darn hard but to no avail.) After hearing lamentations at the bar afterwards, we decided we outplayed, outran and outlasted them but the score (0-1) did not reflect this.

Here are the team stats not including the last 2 games:
Paula Klein 5
Linda McGregor 2
Dianne Anton 2
Debbie Davies 2
Sharon Braun 2
Jane Basinski Gray 1
Lila Kallstrom 1

And with the 2 games included it would look more like this:
Paula Klein 5
           Linda McGregor 2
           Dianne Anton 2
           Deb Davies 2
           Sharon Braun 2
           Lila Kallstrom 2

                         Colleen Burant 1
                         Lori Hlady 1
                         Jane Basinski Gray 1

Lori, Lila, Colleen and 2 Lindas - What the "L"??

It was an impressive game. I told Lori to sub in for me and score. And so she did! Then I was put on forward and I slammed one in. Colleen lead another one in as Barb and I framed her for a nice 3 on 1. Linda offered to play goal so Janet could send them up to us. It was fun for all. And just like the Spanish midfield, it proved to me once again, that playing in midfield is a tough, but lets you control the game.
Majestics did get in 2 goals to our 3, but they were not impressive. They switched goalies in 2nd half but to no avail. The wonky Archibald field proved to be a one-sided game in more ways than one.
(For differing views on the game, you'll have to write your own blog!! )
That was Sunday's news. Follow the blog again for more highlights about tonight's game.

Sunday's Game - In the Heat! Parkdown 2 Chaos 0

Wow, sun, no subs, Kirsten and Sarah on the sidelines, Paula at the lake, Barb in net, Lila in net, Deb gets injured, Janet comes late, no goals, no water breaks, and no beer afterwards!  Soccer - What a great game!!

I am just proud because I kept them away, held my ground and challenged them, as a goalie. Soccer fever has hit us as world cup began on Friday. I think we all had a tiring but excellent game. Colleen, Linda, Sharon all made great attempts with feeds from Jan Smith, Jane and Lori in midfield. With Deb gone someone covered the hole. Our great defense kept them offside due to Jen, Anna and Barb's agility. It all looked good from my point of view. I came out of the net to look larger, as Wade taught me in indoor and somehow it was close enough to get to the ball before them. However, I am glad my turn in net was over.

For any other views of the game, you'll have to send in comments or email me and I'll copy it!

Are We Playing Tonight???? - Extreme Rain Pours All Day

After a frantic phone call to our manager Sarah, Lila showed up at the game, played for 2 minutes and scored!! A few great crosses to the forwards, Dianne, Colleen, Lori went unfinished. The wind kept us all moving, and kept the ball, out of bounds! Janet's foot moves were unbelievable. She should be dancing, after all, she's getting old!! (Birthday BBQ tonight!)
Here is Janet's trainer:

That's all that happened. No headers/goals by Anna this game. No arguing with the ref by Lila. No offsides by Colleen & Paula. No great saves by Linda. That was last game!

Blogging has been behind lately, or maybe there has been nothing to blog about since Lila has not scored until now. It was a beautiful chip over the goalie with a nice outside pass from Colleen. Deb did a high kick or two and as Deb later commented, "Suck it up, Buttercup"!

After the game, in a local establishment, we all decided that Paula does look her age of 51 whereas the rest of us 47 year olds are looking younger by the minute, or by the pitcher!

Here is a reenactment of Lila's goal:

Game One

We won 4-0

Diane had a goal of the first minute! I rang one off the post ...TING !!! but no other goals in the first half.
Second half brought a beautiful goal from Diane ( it was the nicest strike i have ever seen her make...WOW.)
Then linda scored in a scramble in front of the net. And finally Paula scored a break away and showed great patience to just put it by the keeper and with her "new shoes" too, i think she will keep them.
We had one more great chance as Linda made a great pass to Deb who nailed one on the cross bar.
cheers
kirsten
On another note.....
Lila forgot to bring the porta potty to the game because she couldn't choose between the 2 designs above. No one was too disappointed as it was a dark night and we were doing a lot of running. It was a beautiful night to be out playing soccer. The beer tasted great but having to order it on our own was very hard on us!

Windup Results in New Chaos Name!

After a rousing 1 hour practice, complete with dogs and coach, the Chaos soccer team got together for much fun and a short, masterful meeting of the minds! Not only did we discuss fees, and fees and fees, we also discussed names, logos, numbers, old games, playoffs, danceoffs, weather, news, progress, fall backs, setbacks, halfbacks, reeboks, runs, ruins, rules, red cards, yellow cards, blue cards, decks of cards, decks, jocks, jokes, jokers, why not to go to the bathroom, where to go to the bathroom, how to make money going to the bathroom, and our new name ...... Masters of Chaos! MOC!
Lila drove home and watched as the car behind her got pulled over by the cops and the car in front of her got pulled over by the cops. She happily drove past them thinking of how lucky she was that she opted for tea after an evening of much drinks and laughter.

Many Missing Mids Shootouts Shutout Sheesh!

The reports are in! Two views of the game agree that it was a repeat performed of the first playoff game. Here's what Linda said:
".... we were up 2 -0 until about half-way through the second half when Coreen Franke scored, then literally seconds before the end of the game Coreen got past us again, scored, and tied it up sending us into another shoot-out. We couldn’t believe it!
The firing squad this time consisted of Colleen, Kirsten, myself, Jane E. and Janet. Jane had a fantastic shot and scored, the rest of us didn’t score but at least had shots on the net, stopped by the keeper. Fortunately, the wildcats couldn’t even hit the net – Janet had one great save and the rest of their shots were wide – so Chaos emerged victorious!
I see on the website and in the paper today, the score was reported as 1 – 0 with Kirsten scoring the goal! Janet got credit for a shut-out. They didn’t even report the goals scored in the actual game – I don’t know if that ref knows what he’s doing."
Here's what Jane said:
"...Certainly the midfield situation was serious - especially when the only regular midfielder (Kirsten) went into goal for the second half. We actually covered that quite well - Linda and Jane E shared with Kirsten in the first half and when we went down to 2 in the second half it was Lori and Jane E...(not sure if Lori realized it but Jane E took her regular 2 minute shifts and Lori took the place of the other 2 players by playing for 4 minutes at a time - worked well for everyone!).

The forwards played well, chasing every ball and kept working until we had a commanding 2 goal lead. I think the real story of the game was the potentially career threatening injury suffered by our most experienced defender (Anna) - don't worry - like her idol Rooney she'll be back next week. After Anna was stretchered off (ok - after Anna decided she had played her last shift) we fell apart, our 2-0 lead evaporated and we ended up back in a shootout ... sound familiar?
Fortunately we learned from our experience last week and all of our shooters were able to put the ball on the net and at least make the keeper move to save it. North Ridge's inexperience showed as they peppered the back wall with their shots making Janet look really good. It was a glorious victory, made sweeter by having Jen back in the line-up and well-deserving of the 2 big pitchers of beer it spawned.

So there you have it!

Where Was I??? 1-0 Score Over Wildcats

Lila missed the playoff game! While Sara took great pains to remind everyone of place and time while she was away, and Linda tried to make goalie arrangements, Lila put the game on her calendar and looked at it at 8:45 pm! If Sara, Lila and Jane were away, was Kirsten the main mid??
Blog update is needed!! Pictures are needed. Any and all viewpoints will be posted.

Ecplise Shoots out our chances - Chaos Deflated

How did we take a 2 goal lead, end in a tie, tie in shootouts and then lose in sudden-death shootouts??
Easy - Lila lost focus! Lila played a long last shift, thought she had to stay on so as to be 1 of the 5 players in the shoot out, did not score in the last 30 seconds like she was supposed to, and then shot too high in the shootouts.

The only consolation was that had she scored a goal, she would be getting all the attention from the boytoy at the bar. Instead Anna got the attention. Lia got some good proof on the camera and sent it in to the blog. Thanks, Lia, this makes me feel so much better.

Next game will be better!

Parktown Loses in Second Half!

When a game begins with "Who is going to be goalie? Where's Janet? Who wants to play defense? Where's Wade? and Let's play defensively!" you know your team is not as psyched up as it should be to play their best first half. The team played "Chaotically" and let in 2 goals before Wade and others showed up.

So, in the second half, we were able to turn it around and show Parktown who was boss. Lila assisted an excellent goal by Colleen. She also took a hard shot at the goalie's left side. Lori played an aggressive impressive turn as goalie. Angie and Anna and Lia were able to step up and make it 4 on offense as the team kept shuffling and changing who was pushing up. We scored twice. The final score (4 -2 ) was no indication of what is going to happen in playoffs. Parktown should forget the first half, and watch out for the change up we can play when needed!

Breakfast of Champions

After the 1st 10K run by Chaos, the team realized they did not need a tournament to prove their worth. Not only did they run over Eclipse in the next game, they realized that you do not need a beer after every run you do...water did just fine! Sarah with an H, and Anna with a Super in front of her name, wanted me to mention them properly in the blog. If there are any other special requests, you can request all you want.

Boom, Boom, Boom ...3 in for us, 1 for them!

Chaos showed Eclipse who ruled the field. Two of the goals went in through the keeper's legs and 1 was in before she knew that Colleen had taken the shot! (And they were taking shots at Colleen...) With a bit of elbowing, pushing and complaining on their part, Eclipse was eclipsed in Sunday's game. Kirsten kindly took on goal in the second half. There was no grumbling among the forwards this time as Lori strategically was asked to play mid and stop all her constant bickering. Dianne's tailbone was once again sore from the game. Jane E. was a little tired in the midfield and is seen here in the photo resting on the field. Lila looked up once to pass to Sharon in front of the net. For more reports on the action in the box and on the field, please come and see for yourself as my view is always a little skewed. By the end of the game I can't even remember who we have played (too many headers) and therefor cannot lead the Hip, Hip, Hooray.

Chaos 1st Annual 10k Run! - Mids Rule!

The mids dominated the 10k run as Jane, Sarah and Lila moved in a pack of 3 along the river back making the 10k seem like a mere short shift in a soccer game. The defense and forwards, represented by Anna and Dianne kept pace with the fans, Barb and Wrigley, in an attempt to show Chaos that we all are fast and fantastic runners. Lori won the supportive role as table reserver at Grainfields restaurant. Jane is seen here enjoying her prize for her great run!

Chaos may not be able to score or shoot on a net, but we can run!!
See you all at the next 10K run!

0-1 Lila Lets One In!

After about 5 minutes in net, Lila let a rebound in the net. However that is the last time she did so. The rest of the half she kept that area clean, cleared that ball, perhaps a bit too far, and earned enough respect to get the game award of a pocket calendar! Yesss... a prize. However the award was not spectacular enough to warrant wanting to play net again. Relieved that her turn was up, Lila went on to join the Chaos in the second half. Chaos lived up to their name as it really was chaotic out there! No scoring just a lot of running around.
Here is a link to a video of running in circles again. Its also shows the talents of Jen's son! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHj-mGjLHb8

0 - 0 Paula Gets Shutout!

Even though the goalies for the game were Jane and Kirsten, Paula managed to keep Linda's attempts at a goal, out of the opponents net, from her position on the ground. Lila tried for goal number 2 of the season with a high shot in the top corner but missed it by (............) that much! Hopefully she can keep goals out of the net tonight but Paula may have to play defense for that to happen. We'll see!

Lila has been reviewing this last great soccer save all afternoon.

What We Wish For All Our Soccer Team Players, Fans, Friends, and Families

Linda Assists, Lila Scores, Lia Cheers!

Lila scored her first goal of the season. Nothing else is important.
Click on the cheering heard at the time.
Sure Jane E. had 3 goals from both the left and right, Colleen was determined to get one in during a shift and didn't stop until she did, and Paula assisted more than usual hoping to get her name in the blog. Jane popped a knee but got up and played again thus proving how strong and undaunted our midfield is. Kirsten kicked in her own rebound showing the straight shooter she is. Anna tried to made defense look easy by moving the ball up several times proving that her weekend running is making a difference. Janet tried to make bonus money with Sharon's promise of a shutout reward. Everyone wanted the green clogs so some even pirhouetted for them. Sharon and Anna's new hairstyles might have gotten them recognition, but in the end, the only thing that mattered is that #22 got her name on the list of goal scorers leaving Lia and Angie the pressure to score from defense in the upcoming games.
See video on the cheering that occurred.

Dianne Digs in Sunday's Success

With wide smiles and great grins, daring, diving Dianne dug the blasting ball out of the sizable soccer net! (A little alliteration for you!) Relieved to be finished first half, Dianne went out to steal second half and let Janet jostle the ballistic ball. Knocked numb in the nose, Janet jumped out of net again to let amiable Anna arm herself for the nefarious net position. Janet joined in again to steal the shutout spot on our chaotic Chaos Classics contest. Sharon shared goals with card-collecting Colleen and polished Paula. Brewed brown ale cooled Chaos down after the glorious game. Mild-mannered mids mourned the lousy Lila and Lia record of goalless games! Will it be a terrific Tuesday with a rrrroll-up-the-rrrrim to win repeat of last Sunday's success?? We'll c how chaos competes!

JFK Tournament Decision Time

Jane wants a decision made on the next tournament. She says:
Good morning Chaos. Well, to answer Linda and let everyone else know.... the team voted on the weekend to withdraw from next weekend's tournament since there are only Div 2 teams. The JFK tournament takes place the weekend of March 26th. Registration is $375 and is due March 12th. I will be away that weekends, but if others want to play, let me know so that I can get us registered. Ciao. Jane

Ready For a Run???

Chaos wants to enter their own 10K run on March 20th. Here's what Anna says about it:
Hey all,
On Saturday, March 20 at 9:00 am (time can be changed depending on participants availability) we are running a 10K (from Idylwyld Bridge to Circle Bridge). Everyone is welcome to join - invite your family, friends, coworkers and enemies can come too.
After the run, we will go out for breakfast at a restaurant - Grainfields? - I can book us a table and NO I am not paying for everyone.
You have a month to train, so clear off your treadmill and get going!
....Anna
We should all get out and get going.
Can Sarah, Lila and Anna maintain their Gold, Silver and Bronze finishes from the last 10K run in Martensville?? You don't know if you don't enter!

You guys are killing me! Lets go , get in shape and kick some butt in soccer!
Dianne

Salsa for Soccer

Remember Salsa For Soccer??
Last February, about this time we were dancing in bird shirts to raise money to head to a tournament in Calgary. This year we are debating whether to stay in the Boarders tournament we've entered in Saskatoon against younger teams from Div 3 and below. Perhaps we'll try the next tournament at the end of March. Debate continues on this issue. We know that dancing must be part of any tournament we enter and that we will stand out from the crowd with our style!

Chaos Indoor Soccer Team (2009-2010) has had a great start!
Check out this link to the Star Phoenix article, SAS Hands Out The Hardware in Oct. 09
Here's what they said about us:

Women's Classics 2

Chaos: The ladies opened the season rattling off seven straight wins, including exhibition. They managed to hold off the second place team by three points.

Golden Boot: Paula Klein, Chaos -- 22

I think they got the information mixed up and meant player #22, Lila Kallstrom, who made the assists! The midfields of this team really hold the team together. Not only can they play forward, defense and goalie when needed, but their flexibility helps them confuse the opponents every time!

Stats on our team as of today is as follows:

Team Record
GP W L T PTS GF
GA
